Hello World! Welcome Friends! If there’s one thing we’ve learned in 2020, it’s that when times get tough, the only thing we can rely on is each other. If you’re feeling inspired to find a way to give back to your community, there are many different ways. Here are just a few.
Serve
If you’re looking for a new career or thinking about making a career change, you could always look into a more service-oriented job. You can find out how to become a DDD provider in New Jersey or your area or see if you have what it takes to become an EMT or other first responder. If that seems too radical a change or too intense for you, there are other options.
Working in home care can be incredibly rewarding as well, especially as you get to build up a connection with those you care for, providing them with a happy and fulfilled life. You can go online and look up key phrases such as “caregivers jobs near me“, for example, to find what you are looking for without having to wade through a lot of job postings.
Volunteer
Food banks and other volunteer organizations almost always need help. Whatever skill set you have, there’s probably a nonprofit organization that would be grateful for your assistance. Even if you can’t leave the house because of quarantine or because you’re caring for someone who can’t leave the house, there are many ways to volunteer your time online without ever breaking quarantine.
Give
Another thing you can do from home is to make donations. Donations to worthy causes are always appreciated and are more necessary than ever, and of course when tax season comes around, those donations are often tax-deductible. If your budget is tight, there are other ways to donate, either food or clothes or other necessary supplies are generally welcome contributions at a whole variety of shelters and charity shops.
Raise Awareness
If all else fails, you can always raise awareness. If someone is in need, pass the word along to someone who can help. If there is a charity or a nonprofit in need of a donation where they are hosting an event to sell raffle tickets, tell your friends, especially those who can help. Above all, call your representatives about the issues that concern you most and give them an earful about what you think and make sure to vote come November. If you’re lucky enough to live in a country where you can speak freely and you can have a say in your government, you have a social responsibility to vote with your community in mind.
There are so many ways to support your community, and many of them are small. Check in with your neighbors, offer help where you can and make sure that the people around you are okay. Basic human decency may not seem like, but it can make a world of difference in your community.
