Hello World! Welcome Friends! Water pumps are an integral part of daily life. Even if you don’t think about them they are being used in your home or around it. You may have a pump attached to your water supply to boost pressure. Alternatively, pumps are used to bring water to the surface if you have your own well. Or, they can be fitted in your basement to help reduce the risk of flooding.
If you’re considering having a pump fitted at home then you should be aware that there are four main types of pump used at home:
1. Submersible
As the name suggests, these pumps are designed to be fully submerged in water and still function properly. They are generally the more expensive option but they are usually reliable and can be used in almost any situation.
Submersible pumps, also known as a mine dewatering pump, are perfect for fitting in a pit in the basement of your home. They will come on when needed to eliminate water and prevent floods. This type of pump is also good in ponds and underground locations.
In fact, submersible pumps are the most versatile option currently available. For submersible pump specifications check out Crompton.
2. Sump Pumps
Sump pumps are designed to sit in small spaces, such as the pit in your basement, under your floorboards, and other tight crawl spaces. They are powerful pumps but have a very shallow base, allowing them to work effectively in limited conditions. You more than likely will need Motor Bases to mount your sump pump so that it can be secured in place, ensuring that safety is upheld.
These types of pumps are often submersible or waterproof to help deal with the moisture found in these locations. Although submersibles can be used as sump pumps, submersible pumps are generally bigger and, therefore, less suited for confined places.
3. Jet Pumps
The jet pump is very powerful, as the name suggests. These pumps are designed to be installed underground but can be close to the surface. They will dramatically increase the water pressure in your pipes.
Jet pumps are commonly used with spa baths and showers or simply as a shower pump to give your shower the pressure it needs. They usually have pressure adjusters, allowing you to increase, or even decrease the water pressure to suit your needs.
4. Constant Pressure
The constant pressure pump is a simple pump that fits into your water supply line and regulates water pressure. It’s useful if you suffer from low or high water pressure. It’s also a good option if you have an erratic water supply and need to ensure the pressure is maintained. This prevents potential damage to joints and appliances.
While low pressure can be frustrating, high pressure will use excessive amounts of water and is likely to cause leaks in older joints It will also place strain on appliances and cause them to wear out prematurely.
Pumps are an important part of your home, even if you’ve never considered them before. It’s a good idea to verify what pumps you have and their type, this will be beneficial if they ever need to be replaced.
