Hello World! Welcome Friends! If you’ve watched a few too many Disney movies, the idea of critters singing along while you dust the kitchen floor and wash pots and pans seems fun. But anybody who has creatures invading their home knows it is not something they would wish on anybody. Whether mice, rats, bees, or roaches, they can be a nuisance, and it could ruin the enjoyment of your home. So, here are four simple ways to critter-proof your home throughout the year.
Seal All Entry Points
If there is one way to invite all manner of critters into your home, it is gaps in the roof, walls, or windows. If any of these are around your home, you’re practically begging these animals to come and live with you and your family. If you expect animals might start finding ways inside soon, go around your house armed with a flashlight and sealant and fill in any gaps that they could squeeze through. You might also want to install window screens to stop bugs flying inside.
Keep Food Sources Closed
Animals will always be attracted to the smell of food, even if you have thrown it out. This means they will sniff out leftover food in your garbage cans and maybe even crawl inside for a late-night snack. The more food you leave uncovered in your garbage, the more animals you will attract, and even after the food is gone, they might start looking for ways to get inside. Make sure to seal up all food containers or tie garbage bags tight to minimize the odor.
Cut Away Bushes and Shrubs
It’s no secret that critters love to find a cozy place to call home, and this might be the bushes and shrubs around your house. While this is crucial for the ecosystem, they might consider the inside of your home to be a little warmer, especially when the temperature drops. While you shouldn’t entirely remove any bushes, you should take care not to let them get too overgrown, which will invite all sorts of creatures to your house, making it challenging to clear away in the future.
Call In the Experts
If you feel too overwhelmed by some critters that have already reached your home, you will need to contact pest control experts to deal with the problem. This is especially true when it comes to bees or bug infestations, as they will have the proper tools to get rid of the creatures that are hanging around your home. Experts are also useful as they can provide essential advice on how to prevent such problems from repeating themselves while also identifying the exact source of the issue, which will enable you to deal with it effectively.
Critter Proof
Critter-proofing your home will not only keep wildlife out, but it will also make your home more attractive, and even increase energy efficiency. If you can identify any parts of your home, inside and out, where animals could set up a home, make sure to deal with them as soon as possible.
