Hello World! Welcome Friends! Designing a whole home can be a little overwhelming. There are so many different decisions to make during this process that a homeowner might not know where to start. When you’re ready to add the little details that are going to make your house a home, think about these décor ideas that are trending now and that might not have been something you would have thought of in the past.
Add an In-Suite Fireplace
Many homes have a fireplace in the family room, where it can be used and enjoyed by the whole family when the air is chilly outside. However, to create a cozy and inviting bedroom, consider adding an in-suite fireplace. The right fireplace coupled with an amazing mantel is going to add interest to the room, provide warmth during the colder months, and be a focal point that really ties the whole room together. Check here to see the different options available for fireplaces today.
Go Bold in Some Areas
Bold colors are definitely in right now and, when used properly, can have a huge impact on how the home looks and feels. Choose bolder colors in hallways to serve as a backdrop for an art collection or to add a little bit of color to the home. Any bold colors will work fine, but consider the colors surrounding the hallways to make sure everything looks great together. In smaller rooms like bathrooms and half baths, try bolder patterns. Wallpaper with a large pattern can stand out in these smaller rooms and make the whole room more interesting.
Think Black for the Kitchen
Kitchens should be comfortable and inviting, yet easy to clean. Previously, people chose all white kitchens because it’s easy to see in an instant that the kitchen is clean. Today, however, white kitchens are on the way out and they’re being replaced by black kitchens. Use a lighter color or white for the walls in the kitchen and for the countertop but opt for darker colors or black when you’re looking at new cabinets, appliances, and furniture for the room. The black color stands out and is perfect when it’s complemented by the right hardware and lighting in the kitchen.
Display Collectibles More Prominently
Homeowners who have collectibles often display them on shelves or hide them away to ensure they aren’t damaged through day to day use of the home. Today, however, more homeowners are starting to make sure the collection is easy to see. Choose the best pieces in a collection and try displaying them on a table. This gets the collection out where it’s more likely to be seen and enjoyed by those who might visit and ensures the collection is easy to update as more pieces are purchased. Adding a subscription box as decor for your house can be a great idea, you can check out Mitch Allen Interiors’ Website to find the best decor that can compliment your taste.
To really make your house a home, it’s important to think about how to decorate every room and what can be placed in the right spot to have the biggest impact. If you’re ready to work on the décor for your home or you need to add a little more style to have the perfect place to come home to at night, give the tips here a try. Easy changes like moving collectibles and larger changes like replacing kitchen cabinets can have a huge impact on how your home looks and feels.

Great way to sum it up! I love the tips and the personal insights that you shared here. Honestly, I haven’t thought about a black kitchen. I have always been accustomed to a white kitchen since it has been the standard, I guess. Though, the next time we remodel our house I’ll give it a try and might go for bold colours for the other rooms. Thanks!

Coming from the Midwest and having well water—or even Lake Michigan water—Black kitchens, fixtures may not show dirt etc, but water spots are horrid—and constant. Otherwise I would follow all of your advice. I see you are in the new house, it will be great to follow and see what all you do. My goodness it seems huge!
