Hello World! Welcome Friends! Eating healthy is tough. Everywhere you go, unhealthy choices such as fast food and junk food seem to be the only options.
You’ve tried several times in the past to turn your occasional healthy eating into a lifelong habit, but you always seem to slip back into old ways. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to make this try the time you finally succeed.
If you are determined to stick to your diet and consistently eat healthy foods, below are 4 hacks to help you.
Have a Plan
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
Fine words spoken by Benjamin Franklin that hold true in many different facets of life.
Your eating habits should be managed in the same way you handle your money. You wouldn’t approach something as important as wealth management without a plan, and you need to treat healthy eating in the same regard.
Create a plan for what types of foods you want to eat, schedule your meals, have a clear plan of attack for shopping at the grocery store, and even include room for cheat days.
Having a plan for when you slip-up, which inevitably will happen, is important to ensuring you quickly get back on track.
Use Environmental Design
Habits are tricky, which is why you need to be cleverer when trying to permanently adopt new ones.
Environmental design is one tried and true way to help you form habits. It works by intentionally using your environment to your advantage.
For example, if chips and crunchy junk foods are your dietary cruxes, then applying environmental design would mean throwing them away. It’s pretty hard to snack on chips if they’re not in your home.
What are some other ways you can use environment design to help you eat healthy? Don’t be afraid to get creative however you can.
Grow Your Own Food
Fruits and vegetables are without a doubt some of the healthiest foods on the planet. They’re all natural and come from the very Earth you live on.
If you’re trying to eat healthy, you should give growing your own food a try. It can be a fun hobby to get into, plus you will be excited and feel more obligated to eat vegetables that you grew yourself.
Enlist an Accountability Buddy
Eating healthy is really hard. There will be times when you want to give up and throw in the towel all together.
That’s where having an accountability buddy can be invaluable. An accountability buddy is someone whom you check in with each day to help you stick with your healthy eating habits.
Most people are fine letting themselves down, but knowing someone else is going to be disappointed? That feels much worse.
Ask a family member or friend if they will help hold you accountable for eating healthy. Most often, they will be glad to support your efforts.
Closing Thoughts
Change is never easy, and for some reason, positive changes are even harder to make. Try the hacks you learned above to finally stick to a healthier diet for good.
