Hello World! Welcome Friends! Sprucing up the yard with some unique and interesting décor can really make the whole space feel special. Not everything needs to be purchased from a store. There are tons of great finds available at secondhand shops, and really crafty people can whip up many fantastic items in their own workshops.
1. Wheelbarrow
Modern wheelbarrows are made of metal or durable plastics, but old-fashioned models were generally made out of wood. A wheelbarrow that is in decent shape can be refinished beautifully. They can be painted or stained to any color desired and make a nice display piece. If the wheels are no longer serviceable, they can be replaced with heavy duty wheels. It can be used to transport gardening supplies or just be ornamental. Fill one with dirt and use it as a planter or turn it upside down and place potted plants along the top.
2. Planter Pots
Painting planter pots can breathe new life into them and give a great pop of color to any corner of the yard. Children will love to get in on the action as well and can spend hours stenciling designs on the pots and painting them in bold colors. The pots can be tied together vertically to create a group of hanging planters for herbs, strawberries or flowers. Since there are plants that thrive in both the sun and the shade, they can be put almost anywhere in the yard.
3. Stones
Decorative stones are a fabulous way to add personality to a section of the garden. They can be displayed in clear containers or spread out as part of a walkway. Stepping stones can also be customized. The names of family members or pets are popular for use in decorative stones, but any design at all can be put on one. Paint and seal the rocks and stones to keep the design from damage due to the elements.
4. Scarecrow
A craft that can be done alone or with the help of children, a scarecrow can be a whimsical addition to any garden. The supplies are not expensive, and they can be made to fit any size garden. Draw a face on a burlap sack and attach it to some old clothing that has been stuffed with straw. If no suitable clothing is available around the house, head to a resale shop and hunt for something appropriate.
Customizing the look of a garden does not have to cost a fortune or take up a lot of time. With some items that are already accessible and some creativity, it is possible to make unique showpieces for the garden that will be loved for years.
