Hello World! Welcome Friends! Welcoming spring can inspire you to clean, declutter and organize your home. Spring cleaning looks different for everyone, but it often means eliminating old items and organizing existing ones. These clever organization tips can optimize your storage space and minimize the things you want to get rid of. Here are some creative ways to organize your home while spring cleaning.
1. Laundry Room Hacks
Organizing your laundry room can help you view laundry as less of a chore. When everything has a place, you won’t be as overwhelmed when you walk into the room. Upgrade your laundry room by putting laundry soap, dryer sheets and fabric softener into clear containers.
Laundry detergent containers make it easier to measure your laundry soap and make the room look cleaner and put together. You can get bottle dispensers or wall-mounted dispensers to make detergent more accessible.
Countertops over your laundry station can give you more room and make your space more functional. A hanging rack can serve multiple purposes, like reducing wrinkles by immediately hanging clothes out of the dryer or as a spot to hang clothes that need extra attention.
2. Organizing Your Garage
Your garage can quickly become the dumping ground for all miscellaneous items in your home. Organizing your garage can completely transform your home. Everything from Christmas ornaments to sports equipment can end up in the garage.
Installing a workbench that mounts on your wall and folds down or a bike rack can increase your storage space. You can hang anything from tires to fishing poles to the ceiling to declutter your floor. An overhead sliding storage system on the garage ceiling can significantly reduce clutter and maximize your space.
Plywood strips and 2x4s hold storage bins in place and keep them out of your way. Pegboards make excellent storage for tools and miscellaneous items. Free up some space by turning a wall into a pegboard to hang things. Canvas bags, spray paint holders and towel rods can store things and keep them out of the way.
3. Creative Closet Storage
Spring cleaning involves rotating seasonal items from your closet. Closet organization can be challenging, especially if you don’t have a walk-in closet. Closets often hold jewelry, accessories, shoes, and clothing, which is a lot for such a small space. Hooks and floating shelves can maximize your storage space by consolidating your apparel. You can use hooks to hang bags, jeans or other items in your closet.
Adding clothing racks to your bedroom or other parts of your home can eliminate clutter in your closet. Hanging racks in the garage with seasonal items you aren’t currently using is an excellent storage idea. A dresser in your closet can also be a great place to store seasonal items or hold makeup or jewelry. You can use drawer inserts to keep belts, socks, leggings or underwear.
Drawer inserts keep things organized and easily accessible. Mirrors, fun wall decor, rugs and wallpaper can elevate your closet’s aesthetic and add character. Mirrors are functional and reflect light, making your space appear larger. Using the same color hangers can upgrade the look and feel of your room. Making your closet look pretty can make you want to keep it clean and organized.
4. Tackling the Pantry
Your pantry can get out of hand, especially if you have kids or cook often. Tackling your pantry is no easy feat, but it can be with these tips. Sort through food items and throw out anything expired, and donate things you aren’t going to eat to a local food drive—store food in clear containers to elevate the overall look of your pantry. Airtight jars can extend the shelf life of food and make them easier to find.
Have you ever been cooking and rummaging through the cabinet to find a specific spice at warp speed? There’s little more frustrating than being unable to find something when you’re in a hurry. Label the jars to make them easier to find and refill. Labeling your spices can save you time and space. Consider storing your spices in a drawer next to your stove with clear labels. Lazy susans or carousels are also excellent ways to keep spices or sauces.
Use a shoe organizer to store miscellaneous items like snacks, straws, and cookie cutters in your pantry. Use baskets to consolidate your snacks and make them easily accessible. Some baskets come with rails, making them easier to slide in and out. You can use a wine rack to store water bottles or kitchen towels. Look around and get creative before purchasing new items to help you organize. You might be surprised what works!
