Hello World! Welcome Friends! Let’s set the scene. You go on vacation but are unaware that one of your bathroom’s water pipes has a slow leak. After your holiday comes to an end, you look forward to getting back home and relaxing.
You discover the small pipe leak in your bathroom is now a big flood of water, to your horror. And, the water has dripped through the ceiling below into your living room! You immediately turn off the mains water tap, but now you’re unsure what to do next.
If you ever face a scenario that isn’t too dissimilar to the example scenario above, what should you do? Well, it pays to know what options you have to make an informed decision at the time. Here are three ways to fix damaged bathrooms caused by water leaks:

1. Contact Your Insurance Company
Most people will have a home insurance policy that covers damage caused by leaking water pipes. The great thing about insurance is that when you make a claim, and it gets accepted, your insurer will pay to repair the damage.
Of course, it’s not just the cost of any repairs that they will cover. Your insurance policy will likely cover the cost to repair or replace any damaged furniture, valuables such as electronic goods, carpets, and other flooring.
Virtually all home insurance policies offer a 24/7 emergency telephone number you can call. You can be sure that they will send someone out to seal the leaking pipes temporarily, and during the next day or so, they’ll send an assessor to validate your claim.
Once that happens, and your claim gets approved, you can expect repair work to get carried out quite quickly.
2. Call a Flood Damage Restoration Company
If you don’t have a home insurance policy or your insurer doesn’t accept your claim, there are other things you can do to remedy the problem. One such example is calling a flood damage restoration company.
An emergency water clean up is another option where you can contact someone at any time of day or night, 365 days a year. They will stop your water leaks from your bathroom pipes so that no further damage occurs.
Afterward, they will provide you with a quote to fix the problem, depending on how much you want them to get involved. For instance, you could ask the company to repair the damage and restore your bathroom and other affected rooms to their former glory.
Or, you could ask the provider to fix any damaged pipes and drywall, leaving you to remodel your bathroom and other water-damaged rooms.
3. Fix Everything Yourself
Lastly, if you’re a hardcore DIYer and love getting your teeth into all household projects, you may elect to fix the bathroom damage yourself, along with the damage caused to other rooms.
You will need to ensure that you extract any water from floors, ceilings, and drywall before you begin any remodeling work. That way, you won’t need to worry about issues like mold or potential structural damage.
Thanks for reading today’s blog post. Hopefully, you won’t ever need to consider the options on this page. But if the worst happens, at least you’ll be better prepared to deal with the aftermath.
