Hello World! Welcome Friends! Every man needs a space where he can be himself. It doesn’t matter if it’s a shed where he tinkers with home improvement projects or a home office where the kids know not to bother him; it just needs to be unequivocally his.
Does this sound like something that you’d like to create? Are you interested in building your very own man-cave? Here are just a few ways to design something to your satisfaction.
1. Choose Your Location
This is probably the most important part of having a man-cave. If it’s right beside the nursery where your newborn is crying all of the time, it’s not really going to be the oasis that you envisioned for yourself. Try to find somewhere private and with plenty of room for whatever you want to do in your spare time. Garages are common choices, but you can also think about basements, attics, spare bedrooms and converted sun rooms.
2. Organize Your Belongings
This is where your wife’s storage supplies might come in handy. Where will you hang your tools? Where will you keep all of the tiny parts of your model trains? Where will you store your fan jerseys when you’re not wearing them? Think about things like dressers, cabinets, closets, shelves, toolboxes and pinboards. Try not to cram too much into your space at once; you can always retrieve things from the rest of the house when necessary, but once it’s in your man-cave, it shouldn’t go back out again. This place is your sanctuary.
3. Install Polished Floors
Polished floors will be a great addition to your space. Not only will they gleam like a professional car garage, but if you invest in something like Floorguard products, they’ll also be resistant to scratches and stains. You won’t have to worry about messing them up as you go about your business and pursue your hobbies. You can also order polished floors in multiple sizes, colors, patterns and materials, so it’s up to you to personalize your look.
These are just a few ways to get started on your man cave. Whether you’re building a work space in the garage or a technological haven in your entertainment room, it’s important that the area is your space. You should be the one making all of the final decisions on what goes where. Have at it!
