Hello World! Welcome Friends! In these days of social distancing with an increased emphasis in staying away from close contact with others, people are getting creative in how they vacation. Camping and spending time outdoors is a great way to get away while staying safe. With more and more people choosing nature over a resort, there are some tips you should know if you’re not accustomed to being outside for an extended period of time. Mosquitos can seriously ruin an outdoor excursion if you aren’t prepared, especially if you don’t have a working mosquito bite treatment. Here are three ways to keep mosquitos away, so your camping trip will be full of positive memories and not problems.

1. Choose a Dry Site
It’s imperative to know your surroundings when settling down at a campsite. While water may be beautiful to look at, you’ll get tired of its beauty if you’re getting eaten alive by mosquitos. Choose a dry spot, on high ground that’s far away from any standing water. Mosquitos thrive near standing water, and you will be the perfect prey for them if you stay close by. You can visit water during your trip, but deciding where you’re going to sleep is a different story.
2. Burn a Fire
Fires are great for cooking, staying warm and sharing scary stories around. However, they also do a good job at scaring away mosquitos. Mosquitos aren’t a fan of fire and smoke, so they won’t venture near your site. The scent from the fire also masks your scent which is what mosquitos are attracted to. if you’re new to making a campfire, here’s some tips on how to start a bright and bold fire.
3. Close Tent Doors
When you’re at home, you most likely shut the front and back doors behind you when you enter and exit. You don’t want bugs and critters getting into your home, and the same mindset should apply to your outdoor home when camping. Make sure to always zip your tent up behind you when you’re in the tent and when you aren’t. This will go a long way in keeping mosquitos out of your living arrangements.
In society’s new normal, why not try out something unique and different such as camping? It’s a fun way to immerse yourself in nature, stay socially distanced and still make fond memories. By adhering to these tips and being mindful about mosquitos, you can keep the bites away while ensuring the enjoyment is here to stay.
