Hello World! Welcome Friends! Since moving into our new to us house, I have been busy painting, moving furniture and shopping. It has been quite the challenge settling on furniture placement. What flows well and what works with our lifestyle sometimes doesn’t mesh with the vision in my head. I think it would be easier to buy new furniture specifically for a new house than to try and make furniture moved from the previous home work.
The changes begin in the foyer with the china hutch being moved around the corner. This look is just temporary until I can find a chest or buffet that fits in this space. Also, we need to have a plug put on this wall. We were surprised the builder didn’t put a plug on this wall since there is electricity in this wall. On the other side of this space is the Master Bedroom Closet that has a plug on the opposite side of this wall. This must be done before I start decorating for Christmas since my 14 ft. tree which I haven’t used in three years is going in the curve of the stairs.
The sofa table that was behind the beige couch has been moved into the dining room. This move created more space so the couch could be scooched back towards the stairs.
The china hutch fits nicely in this space and doesn’t encroach on the pathway.
Now for the New Table:
This is the Kent End Table from Joss & Main.
The black mixed with the gold is so elegant. My plan is to infuse more black throughout the house to tie rooms together. You know how I love black doors with gold hardware! That is on the list of things to do.
Isn’t the top gorgeous?
As you can see in the above picture, the couch has been moved back toward the stairs.
Don’t let this shot fool you, there is plenty of space in between the table and the china hutch. In the background is the still green study with our former breakfast table serving as a desk. A little on the messy side. Also, that is one of Little Dedicated’s paintings. She is quite the artist and builder. I may have an future architect on my hands.
Changes in the Breakfast Nook:
Look what has been painted: the back hall. The laundry room has been painted as well, but she’s not ready for you to see just yet.
Two of the breakfast nook chairs were moved to the foyer. It is usually just the three of us for dinner; so this arrangement is perfect for us. If we have company, it’s no problem to grab the chairs from the foyer.
I don’t think I ever showed you this pretty box I picked up at Home Goods. Her job is to hold the remote controls when they are not in use. Of course her pedestal is none other than books by Carolyne Roehm.
In the hallway just outside of the Master Bedroom, I hung this little mirror just across from the art niche. It’s nice to have this here for a quick check of the appearance if I’m rushing out the door.
I love the details on the frame of this mirror I have had for years. If memory serves me well, I purchased it from Kirkland’s.
Current Project:
I have already begun painting the powder bath. I really wish tile replacement was in the budget.
The powder room is located off of the back hall. To the left is the breakfast nook and to the right is the laundry room.
I don’t really like the color of the mirror, but I’ve decided to keep her and give her a little transformation.
It’s a decent powder room with a window, but no storage whatsoever. So, that needs to be addressed. Don’t be surprised if you see a stencil appear in here. I really love our breakfast nook stenciled wall and would love to have something in this space. In fact, I’ve narrowed it down to three stencils. So, hopefully I can land on one and get to painting that once the base painting is finished.
There’s so much to be done, but I’m really enjoying the process and am super excited about this house!
I would love to hear your thoughts on my new table and the furniture move around.

Kathryn, I see you have windows with only an apron like we have (had) in our house. If you’re interested in framing the window, I have a recent post in June showing the steps Stan-The-Trim-Man took to frame two of our windows. Really makes a big difference. So simple hubby and I are going to do all the rest of the windows ourselves. Stop by…sharon

I’ll have the powder bath window framed when I put plantation shutters in there. All of our downstairs windows are framed that have plantation shutters. I just need to update the Master Bedroom, powder room, laundry room and the upstairs windows. You’re right, it makes all the difference in the world! Thanks for popping over. Happy week to you!

That table is gorgeous! I have enjoyed watching the changes as you have settled into your new home. I was so fortunate in this new home that we sold the old place with all of the furniture, so most of the furniture has been purchased for this house. I still find the best thing is just to live in a space to figure out how you really want to use the different spaces.

That is amazing that your buyers purchased your home with all of the furniture. I love going furniture shopping! Heck, I like any kind of shopping. LOL Thanks for stopping by! Happy weekend!

I love the small blue and white box. I found a small wooden one somewhere, but can’t find anything SPECTACULAR enough to do to it. Yours is just MAGNIFICENT, DARLING, JUST MAGNIFICENT. Tell me how to do something LIKE THAT and you’ll have a friend for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
