- Exterior walls should have a minimum 12-gauge thick steel for a single-walled safe or 0.100 inches for two combined walls. Doors should be constructed of at least one layer of 7-gauge reinforced steel or at least two layers of 12-gauge compound.
- Door hinges should be a type that can’t be removed.

Obviously, owning a gun safe a must thing. However, owning a safe is far not the only thing that ensures the safety of the house. I believe that once there is a gun in the house, parents absolutely must explain to kids what the gun is why it is not a toy.
