Hello World! Welcome Friends! Well, it’s done! I’m so excited to share with you my breakfast nook! It was quite the adventure and at times I thought I might not get it finished. So, grab a favorite beverage, sit back and get ready to scroll, scroll, scroll.
Let me remind you of what we started with.
Dark brown paint, recessed can light and brown switch plates.
To start with, we painted the walls Sherwin Williams Gray Screen SW 7071. It did a lot to lighten up the space.
Here’s little Misty keeping me company. Let’s start on the accent wall and work our way around the room.
The mirror is stunning in person! It is the Somette Antique Goldtone Framed Mirror from Overstock.
The rug is from Overstock: nuLoom Traditional Persian Vintage Blue Round Rug.
The accent wall was created with Chinoiserie Birds and Roses Wall Mural Stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. The paint I used on the stencil was craft paint I picked up from Hobby Lobby.
The lamps are also from Overstock: Casa Cortes ‘Parisian Buffet’ Hand-Crafted Table Lamps
The lamp shades are perfection.
I bought this set of china from my collector friend, Kevin. It is from China and has Chinese lettering on the bottom; so I have no idea what it is called. Although it didn’t show in the photographs, all of the pieces are gold-rimmed. You can see it in the picture below of the serving pieces.
Let’s just pretend the back hallway has been painted. I really wanted to get this done, but I just ran out of time. The curtains are the Hatfield Lined Curtains from Country Curtains.
Also from Overstock is this fabulous chandelier: Gold Leaf Trellis 4 light Chandelier!
The barstools are from Joss & Main: Vidhi Barstools. They are beyond comfortable! I took a risk ordering these online not having tried them out first. But, they did not disappoint. Sturdy and pretty!
I thought I would show you a couple of shots with the lights on. The table, chairs, and hutch are from Bassett Furniture. Bench*Made 54″ Tavern Table, Bench*Made Three Door Hawkins Huntboard, and Bench*Made Ladderback Side Chair.
Let’s pretend the kitchen cabinets have been painted white and the granite and back splash changed. That’s definitely on the list.
A big thank you goes to my Mom, aka Betty Lou for shortening the curtain panels because I had absolutely no time to get that accomplished. Also, thanks to Mr. Dedicated for helping me hang the chandelier, mirror, and curtains! I definitely could not have gotten this done without their help.

A very well thought out design, Kathryn, and the execution of it sounds quite the challenge! I always associate the colour blue with you, maybe because of your Anything Blue Friday party. This room is so refreshingly radiant! It must be so welcoming every morning, to sit in the soft sunlight and enjoy your breakfast and the start of your day. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much, Carol! Happy week to you!
This is just breathtaking! I love the colors, how the blue and gold pop (and I normally am a silver finish fan) and especially because it’s timeless, yet unique. SO many rooms these days are all the same contemporary style that’ll be dated in 5 years. This is a real inspiration! I’d LOVE to feature this next week – I don’t see the Craftastic Monday button on your party page, could you add it so I can share this beautiful makeover. Keep up the great work & thanks for linking up at Sew Can Do:)
Awe, thanks so much, Cheryl! Thanks for letting me know I didn’t have your button on my party page. I’ve got it added now. There’s always something to clean up on the site…lol. Thank you again for the kind words. It’s our new favorite spot in the house.
Thanks very much! I’m not surprised it’s the favorite spot – it would be mine too. I’ve pinned this pretty place and be on the lookout for it to be featured and shared on Twitter next week:)

Thanks so much for partying with us!!
Awe, thank you so much, Diana!
Well, I’m late to the party, but oh my goodness I’m glad that I get to see this! That stenciled wall is just breathtaking! The entire space is just stunning! Thank you for sharing it with us at The Creative Circle Link Party! I’ll be featuring it on my blog this week!
How exciting to be featured! Thank you so much!
Your room is beautiful! Based on the shape and decoration of your serving pieces, I’m sure your dishes were made by Noritake, possibly for use in their home country of Japan (not China). The pattern is similar to pattern #1538G. They used Chinese characters in their backstamps until 1891. After that, all pieces were marked Nippon, unti 1921, when they started using Japan as part of the backstamp.
I hope you find this helpful.
What a HUGE transformation, Kathryn! Swooning over the wallpaper and paint color. You added so much charm and personality to this eating nook – very nice.
Thank you, Marie! The wall treatment isn’t wallpaper, it’s a stencil. Thank you for stopping by!
Wow, even more impressive – just love it!
Thank you, Marie! Happy day to you!
Where to begin? First of all, I was so impressed by all of the comments here. This is a well-loved blog and breakfast room! I visited last week and commented on the wall stencil. It is spectacular but now… those dishes! I die. And the mirror and the lighting are a perfect pairing. I also wouldn’t have thought to do yellow on the table but it so works. The whole thing is beautiful. Really.
Love your style.
Pamela
Thank you so much, Pamela! It was definitely a labor of love. We are really enjoying the space. Thank you for stopping by! Have a happy week.
Oh Kathryn, it is stunning!
Thank you so much, Roeshel!
