Hello World! Welcome Friends! Whether you live in the Wild West or just want to have a good old fashioned hoe down, a Country Western themed partyis always a fun time.
With modern-day Western movies, such as Django, people are looking for an excuse to slap on a cowboy hat and some boots to celebrate any number of occasions.
If you’re looking to throw your own Country Western party, then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s how to plan it out in 5 simple steps.
Design and Send the Invitations
First things first – you’ve got to come up with a way to get people excited to come to your party. There’s no better means to do this than by creating a classic wanted poster.
You’ve got a couple of options here:
- Use a photo of one of the main guests (at their approval, of course), put it into a blank Word document, and then spend a few minutes crafting the invite with cowboy style font and clever wording. “Wanted: For being the handsomest guy in town.”
- Spend a little bit of extra time creating a unique invitation for each guest. Just grab a photo of each person’s Facebook and do something similar to above.
In the invite, be sure to tell everyone to dress in their best Country Western attire. Cowboys, cowgirls, bandits, and sheriffs are just a few good ideas here.
Plan out the Decorations
It’s fairly easy to turn any party room into a Western style saloon. Set beer bottles up behind the bar or along the wall. Use small round tables with low stools and spread them out. You can go to Google and type in “Country Western theme party decorations”, and you’ll get a whole slew of awesome ideas as well.
Here are a few others that work quite well:
-
- Hang up larger versions of your Wanted invitations on the walls
- Set up a cowboy hat stand for hats and belts
- Swap out your light bulbs for dim yellow ones to set the mood
Plan a Few Western Style Activities
What sort of party would this be without a few Western style party activities? Every good Country Western party needs a dance floor with country music playing and the occasional square dance song.
If anyone is particularly good at square dancing, it can be fun to teach other guests and get everyone involved as well.
Another clever idea is to set up an outdoor shooting range with empty cans and water pistols. You can come up with a wide variety of games and contests by seeing who can knock over the cans the fastest.
Lay Down a Killer Spread
No great Country Western party would be complete without a traditional American Western food spread. Here are a few ideas for your menu and appetizers:
- Steaks and chicken wings
- Chicken fried steak bites
- Biscuits with jam and butter
- Western mini tacos
- Corn on the cob
- Baked beans
- Homemade apple pie and ice cream for dessert
For the beverages, serve classic root beer, American beers, and whiskey.
Party Your Heart Out!
The last step in the process is to put all your planning together, wait for the guests to arrive, and then have a blast. Theme-based parties are a great way to loosen people up and take a break from the usual day-to-day living. Follow the steps above to design your own Country Western themed party and have a rootin’ tootin’ good time.
