Hello World! Hello Technology! Welcome Friends! Technology is all around us. We have devices we use daily to stay entertained, socialize, do work, and so much more. There are areas of technology entering our lives which we may not even notice, like smart gadgets in our household!
Our households are changing the way we use technology and technology is changing the way we experience our life at home. This article will share some of the recent tech trends coming to us in the year 2017 and what they could mean for our modern living spaces.
#1: Smart Devices, Broadband, and Streaming
Smart devices and the “Web of Everything” is taking over our domains.
You see it in many everyday items now capable of connecting to the web or be controlled through an app:
LED bulbs
Washer & dryer
Air & heat controllers
This evolution of our items give us real-time reports, alerts, and the ability to even browse the Web. Our appliances (and home) are just as connected as we are!
These items are a great addition for the modern living space. They do come at a higher premium and, of course, you’d need broadband internet, such as with the high-speed packages of Suddenlink, but the features make it well worth the investment!
#2: Using tech for insomnia (which is often caused by tech)
What a weird world we live in, right?
Many problems people face with having a lack of sleep and experiencing insomnia stems from their usage of technology. People like to watch TV in bed up to the moment they fall asleep (hopefully) or constantly fiddling with their phone.
Tech creates an issue where we can’t wind down.
Funny enough is that we now have tech in our living spaces that help with our sleep schedules:
White noise machines
Adjustable LEDs to mimic cool and warm lighting
Sleep management apps
You may soon find yourself using sleep technology products and services to track and improve your restfulness through data. How’s that for a modern home?
#3: Virtual Showcasing
Interior design can be a costly venture whether you source it to a professional or personally take on the task. Completely redesigning a single room can change the flow of the entire home which means a lot of preparation and budgeting needs to go into the design.
Worse: What happens if you start to implement all these ideas and you don’t like the outcome?
Solution: Virtual showcasing.
There are new services on the horizon (and being implemented) that allow you to design and showcase the living spaces virtually. This means you can get an idea of the entire layout, do a 3D view of the room, change colors and designs on the fly, and even order the items from within the system.
Hutch is one such example of Virtual/3D showcasing but there are others such as the wildly popular Matterport program and service.
Through these programs and services, you gain:
A consideration on the design without an up-front investment into the items
An easy-to-use tool to rearrange and change the layout in 3D
Virtual reality tours of the rooms to truly understand the immersion and changes
It’s very wild to think how far we’ve come in decorating our homes and doing interior design. It may be on the horizon for your home projects soon!
Conclusion
Tech is infused with our homes in more ways than one. We’ll continue to see our homes expand in functionality through smart devices and services.
Who knows? Perhaps 2017 will be the year where you’re living the high-tech lifestyle we’ve been promised way back in the 50’s sci-fi movies!
Over to you – What tech trends do you feel will become part of your modern living space in 2017 and beyond? Leave a comment!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a gorgeous day/night depending on where you are in the world! Go with God and remember to be kind to one another!

I’m one of those people that need a little noise in the background to sleep well. Not wanting the glare from the TV I found some white noise on YouTube and it helps big time. Thanks, smartphone~
