Hello World! Welcome Friends! Do you have a balcony or a part of your backyard you’re not sure how to decorate or use? This year’s popular decorating trend is designing an outdoor space in such a way that it basically becomes an extension of your home’s interior. So, instead of just putting a couple of chairs out, you can create an amazing, comfortable space that’ll be perfect for summer parties or simply lounging when you feel like spending time outside, but enjoying the comfort of an indoor space.
Color is the key
A clever and creative use of color can be the simplest way to really connect your indoor and outdoor area. In order to successfully blur these boundaries, you need to use the same colors you used inside; there is no need to use the exact same hues, but make sure they are in the same color family. So, you can decorate your deck by pulling the indoor furniture out and then adding some accessories like cushions or flowerpots to tie it all together. If you’re planning a party, use the same party decorations both inside and out in order to make your outdoor room look like a natural extension of your home.
Let there be light
Good lighting is one of the most important aspects of any room and it’s no less crucial for an outdoor space. While you’ll probably be spending most of your time lounging in the sun, by creating a good lighting scheme, you can turn this space into a perfect lounging corner during nighttime, as well. A fire pit always makes a great ambiance but if you’re not able to make one, simply use ordinary lights. Be careful, though – you shouldn’t use glaring lights. Instead, try mixing different types of bulbs. You can use accent lighting positioned next to a beautiful tree or sculpture and you can add some softly shaded bulbs, twinkling lights or candles to create a romantic and cozy atmosphere.
Make it cozy
Whether you plan to use this space for cuddling under a blanket with a good book or for inviting your friends for an alfresco buffet, you’ll want to make your outdoor room as cozy and inviting as possible. You can achieve this with comfortable furniture and a few interesting accessories. You can add plenty of colorful cushions and an interesting jute rug to make the space look warm and cozy. Also, think about how you’ll arrange the furniture.
You can create a special mood by putting candles all around and add freshness by placing plenty of houseplants and flowerpots anywhere you can. Don’t forget to dress up your table by putting a nice table cloth on it and use some cute mismatched china to make things even more interesting. If you really want to add some personality to your new favorite corner, you can paint an entire wall in a bright color; this’ll make the space look more interesting and fresh.
Remove all barriers
In order to really connect your indoor and outdoor space you should consider a big opening between them. So, instead of having a solid wood door, consider having a single door that is mostly comprised of glass. This will let in plenty of natural light, especially if you don’t use any curtains. If you’re worried about your indoor room becoming too hot, you can always install a sunshade or better yet, plant a large tree nearby to get some natural shade.
Whether for reading your favorite book in peace and quiet or sharing a bottle of wine with your friends, by successfully blurring the line between indoors and outdoors not only will you make your home more spacious and comfortable but you’ll also be able to use it to the fullest.
