Hello World! Welcome Friends! When it comes to the interior design of your home, it’s really great to be able to customize different elements and make them your own. For the most part, most people order their furniture and accessories from the same major retailers. After a while, everyone’s home can look similar. However, the details are the things that can make the biggest difference and impact on overall decor. If you’d like to experiment with different ideas for updating or customizing your furniture, consider these ideas.
1. Dresser
A simple chest of drawers is easy to find in any bedroom. It’s easy to do a fun paint job and make it a different color. If you don’t want to go through the work of picking out the paints and the process of painting, try a simpler option. Swap out the drawer pulls and try different ones. Go to a local craft or home goods store to find a knob that works perfectly. For something that’s really different, go to a local vintage shop and search through all the different knobs they might have in-house.
2. Coffee Table
Coffee tables are easy conversation pieces. You can use the coffee tables to place funny books and unique conversation-starting games. It’s also a great place to put a small arrangement of flowers and a few scented candles. If you feel as though your coffee table could use an upgrade, consider changing it into a padded coffee table. Simply place batting on top of the current hard surface and staple it in place. Feel free to add large amounts of soft cotton underneath to help add more cushion to the padding. Then, find a luxurious fabric like velvet to cover the batting and cotton with. You can either use staples or nails to get it in place. With this type of style, it might be nice to install metal table legs for a fun contrast.
3. Sofa
The sofa can be tricky to upgrade without the help of a professional. If you can’t see yourself completing a re-upholstery job on your entire sofa, add a sofa slipcover to change the look of the sofa altogether. When it comes to changing pieces like the sofa, accessories are major. Simply swap out the standard pillows of the current couch and add some fun printed pillows instead. Include a comfortable throw blanket or sham to complete the look.
4. Lamps
Lamps are fairly easy to upgrade. This is where it might be nice to turn to the internet and look for some unique shades. Between internet shops and the local vintage shops, it’s easy to find a fun lampshade that will fit beautifully with your home. Another popular idea involves purchasing a stencil and doing a DIY project. Get a permanent black marker and stencil a beautiful design onto the lampshade. If you’re naturally artistic, feel free to freehand the whole design. Just make sure to place the design on the inside of the lampshade. Once the design is finished and you turn on the light, the design will show up on the walls since the light is reflecting it.
These four ideas will look great in any home. If you’re looking for fun ways to update your furniture, tackle one of these projects at a time. Before long, your entire house will completely reflect your style and it won’t look like anything else on the market.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a lovely day/night depending on where you are in the world! Go with God and remember to be kind to one another!
