Hello World! I’m so glad you are here today! I’m delighted to be a part of the 2016 Fall in Love with Texas Blog Tour hosted by Katie at Let’s Add Sprinkles. If you’re visiting from Kitty’s Kozy Kitchen, welcome! Didn’t you enjoy Kitty’s post?
If you’re visiting for the first time today, let me introduce myself. I’m Kathryn and I live in Houston, Texas, where my husband works for an architectural firm and is an ordained Minister of the Gospel. We have 1 beautiful 9 year old daughter who keeps us busy with piano, dance, and gymnastics. I adore bold color and get excited about painting a wall or finding the perfect piece of furniture that I can transform. Heck, I just plain like to shop! My favorite colors are the classic blue and white combo with black and kelly green making appearances here and there.
For this Fall Tour, I wanted to share my dining room. In the coming weeks I will share the hearth room and some vignettes that are scattered around the house. I wanted to keep things simple and use the Fall decor that I have on hand.
This tablescape was pulled together with items I currently have on hand. The china is Spode Blue Italian.
Let’s start over on the “sideboard”. I have big plans for this sofa table. The plan is to paint it black and glam it up a bit with gold hardware. But, for now, she does her job holding extra plates and pretties.
The wire basket is from Mary & Martha as is the little pedestal bowl and the Grace & Gratitude pitcher. The plates are more of the Blue Italian with a Currier & Ives platter in the back.
I did pick up a bag of little pumpkins last week from the grocery store and decided they needed to be paired with some blue and white. I simply adore orange and yellow mixed with blue and white.
Now, to the table. Adorned with Spode Blue Italian china, and crystal Mikasa water and wine glasses that I purchased years ago.
The blue pumpkins were painted a few years ago and have been a staple in our Fall decor. However, I have the itch to paint them black with gold and kelly green accents.
The gold bowls, chargers, place mats and runner are all from Home Goods two years ago.
I did not make the centerpiece! I wish I could say I did. It’s a glorious mess! I mean that in a good way! I love how it looks tousled!
These little cuties are salt and pepper shakers.
The next stop on today’s tour line-up is Leslie at Brookhollow Lane. I know you will enjoy touring Leslie’s Fall home!!

Kathryn, I apologize for my late arrival. I left the house early and just now getting home to the computer. You know I’m a blue and white fan too! I love the way you’ve spotlighted your pieces in your dining room and how you’ve set the table. The addition of the orange mini pumpkins is the cherry on top. Like you, I love mixing orange with my blue and white for fall. One of my favorite things to do is to add twigs of bittersweet or a group of Chinese lantern stems to my blue and white vases. Orange tulips too, if I can find them. ‘-)
Thanks for the tour!
thededicatedhouse@gmail.com says
I love orange tulips as well. I never seem to spot them until they are picked over. Thanks for stopping by!

thededicatedhouse@gmail.com says
Thank you so much, Lisa! I got the white pumpkins just as the grocer was bringing them out from the back. It was a fluke that I was there at the time they were stocking. So, I thought I better get them while I can! Thanks for stopping by!
Cecilia says
Kathryn, your dining room looks so pretty! I love blue and orange together too! Love the centerpiece and what a good use for the sofa table! Makes a great buffet! Enjoying the tour anseeing what all my Texas sisters are up too!
thededicatedhouse@gmail.com says
Thanks so much, Cecilia! It’s so funny about the sofa table. My husband, who usually doesn’t care about these things, hates that table. He threatens to get rid of it, but I tell him it will be gorgeous one day. So, he leaves it be. Then just the other day, he peeked in the dining room and said that he liked the Fall decor on the sofa table. LOL
