Hello World! I have been remiss in sharing the Ballad Designs bookcase that I have had for a year! Horrible blogger! I wasn’t sure that the spot I chose would indeed be it’s home, but for now, it’s just fine. If my Mom gives me her secretary (c’mon Betty Lou), then I will have to find a new spot for the bookcase, because the secretary would look dreamy in this spot after I finish changing her up a bit. But, before we dive into all things bookcasey, let me remind you of the Texas Fall Tour that is starting next week. It’s gonna be a good one, so you don’t want to miss. I will have all the regular posts every day, but starting Monday morning, I’ll have a post of the tour stops for that day so you can just hop on board.
Now onto the matter at hand.
This is the Bourdonnais Bookcase from Ballard Designs. Apparently, it is one of their most popular bookcases being one of the top pinned bookcases on Pinterest! I can definitely see why.
It comes in three different finishes: Black, Mahogany, and Belgian Oak. I debated between the black and mahogany for quite some time. I’m slowly introducing more black in my decor and furnishings, but I thought I would get the mahogany since it may end up in the Hearth room and I think the mahogany would do well in that room.
As you can see, I have yet to paint the stairwell. That is on my list to finish up before years end. The rug is the Sophia from Ballard Designs which I purchased when we were in our former house. Pardon the railing as well; I have plans for updating it, but I may need to hire someone to help out on this one.
Let me tell you, this bookcase is sturdy and very well constructed with a flat top! I just haven’t decided what I want to put on top yet.
What I love most about it, is the openness of the piece. I think that is what gives it its character. The design was inspired by the X-shaped metalwork of the Eiffel Tower!
I loaded her up with some new blue and white pretties from you guessed it, Home Goods. The yellow vase sitting on top of the wrapped books came from my Mom. She is cleaning out her house getting ready to put it on the market and move to a beautiful, new construction senior adult luxury apartment complex. If you want to know more about using books in decor, you can check out my post about wrapped books here.
The stack of bowls also came from Home Goods. What’s funny is that I think Jennifer at Dimples & Tangles might have the same ones out on her patio mantel. She has little succulents in her bowls. Super cute.
Here are more bowls on a marble tray that I picked up at Home Goods as well.
Here’s a nice shot of the X design. The bookcase doesn’t clash bad with my stairway. Hopefully, I can get that updated before the end of the year.
Here is a close-up of the bowls and marble tray.
Mr. Rooster and lantern are on the list to get an update. I’ll let you know when that gets done!
I was unable to get a full straight on shot with my camera since our foyer is not a spacious one.
That’s it for now! Don’t forget about the Fall Tour next week! We are so excited to show off our Texas Fall!
