Happy Saturday! Okay, here she is.
Finally, the piano is finished.
Check out the shine and reflection. Below is the mess I had to work with.
A lot of scratches and little chunks missing. So, I sanded her and cleaned her before giving her two coats of paint.
You will notice on the book holder all of the gold had worn off. See the marks right below the keys? They are gone. The wonders of sanding and paint.
Here’s the book holder now. I hand painted the lattice work with some pretty metallic paint I had on hand. It just pops now!
This photo was taken from the entryway so you can see the reflection of the wall on the side of the piano.
Confession time: I haven’t painted the bench yet. I’m not sure if I’m going to use it much longer. It’s really wonky and needs a little repair. If I can’t repair it, I may just put a pretty chair here. And, of course, if I can repair the bench, she will be painted and the cushion will be recovered.

You did a great job, Kathryn! It turned out fantastic. I love that you touched up the gold in the book holder, too. The shine is amazing.
Beautiful job and great finish! Worth every minute you must have spent on it. Sally
Oh…it is so pretty! I love that glossy black finish that you gave it…hugs, Penny
Wow, Kathryn, your piano looks gorgeous! The shiny finish looks just like a piano from a show room floor! You did a beautiful job and the gold on the wires looks wonderful too. Oh, I know you're proud. I painted an old upright I had one time. Guess what color I painted it? Yellow!

Be a sweetie,

What a treasure…. I'm sure it took a lot of work. Thanks for the inspiration because I've been wanting to paint a fireplace surround. Now I feel like I can do it after seeing your piano project.

Wow you did a great job! It looks new again and the finish is elegant like a grand piano! You are right about oil based paints- they can't be beat. My uncle used to paint all the windows and trim on the inside with oil based paint and they all held up beautifully.
So glad to see the reveal!! It's absolutely gorgeous! The shine is wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing, I may attempt mine after all! You're an inspiration!
Looks brand new! Is it an old family heirloom or did you purchase it and then repaint it? It reminds me of a piano I learned to play on as a child.
