Hello World! I hope all are well this fine and hot Friday. We are expecting a cool front to blow in here Saturday night. I am so excited for cooler weather. Ready to kiss summer goodbye!
Today I will be sharing with you one of our favorite recipes that I make quite frequently.
Coffee Petits Pots
Coffee Petits Pots
Ingredients:
1 cup milk (regular or 2 percent)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons instant espresso powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 large egg yolks
Whipped cream for garnish
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Mix milk, cream, sugar and espresso powder in a saucepan. Heat to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
2. Beat egg yolks until thick. Slowly add about one-fourth of milk mixture to beaten yolks, whisking constantly; whisk egg mixture into remaining hot milk. Divide mixture into ramekins or small round molds and place in a baking dish. Fill dish with hot water halfway up the sides.
3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes; remove cups to cool and refrigerate until set, about 2 to 3 hours.
Serves 4
I top this with fresh whipped cream. Heavy cream, powder sugar, bit of vanilla, whipped together until peaks form. I don’t measure this, just eyeball it and finger taste. This is a lovely light dessert that might follow a fish dish in our house. Try this, you will not be disappointed.
Okay, so I’ve been painting this little chest that is taking me forever. Hopefully, it will be done by the end of next week. I promise to post pics as soon as the paint is dry. Also, here’s a pic of The Dedicated Daughter who started her pre-school this week.
She picked out the dress to wear. A little short, so she had to wear shorts underneath. I remember those days of having to wear shorts under dresses when I was a young girl. It’s so nice to have a little girl of my own to see that the tradition carries on.

I hope all have a pleasant weekend, and remember to be kind to one another.
Toodles,
Kathryn

Yum on the coffee petits pots. Your little girl is just beautiful all dressed for that first day of school. I love that she has her little shorts under her dress. Our girls do that, too. xo Diana
Kathryn, these look delicious! I will have to add these to my recipe files. Your daughter is so cute in her little dress! Yep, I remember having to put the shorts underneath, as well. Hope you have a great weekend!
Yum. Those look absolutely great! my girls wear shorts under dresses too. We got it started when they were young and now they do it automatically – whether the dress is short or long!
YUM! Those look absolutely deLish! What a darling photo of your daughter starting her first day of pre-school and I see she is toting a Hello Kitty book bag…my granddaughter has one too! What little girl doesn't love Hello Kitty! 🙂
The cool front has arrived here in Dallas and believe me when I tell you it is wonderful. Temperatures only reaching the mid to high 80s. If it hasn't reached you yet it is on its way! 🙂 So grateful for cooler temperatures!
Hi Kathryn! Your Coffee Petits Pots look divine! Can't wait to try this out! I'm always on the look out for light and yummy desserts. Look forward to joining your "Make It Pretty" party on Monday. I am one of your newest follower!
Hi Kathryn, thanks for coming by Quirky Vistas and leaving me such a great comment and an invitation to your party. I'll be sure to stop in tomorrow and link up. What a great little dessert here. This is right up my alley. Anything with whipped cream gets my vote. Your daughter is adorable! I too remember wearing shorts under my dress. I love revisiting that memory. Made me think back to lots of times on the playground upside-down on the monkey bars. 🙂 So long ago, and yet I remember it like yesterday. Of course old memories are the strongest. Yesterday is actually a bit foggy sometimes. Ha!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving the sweet comments on my decoupaged pumpkins! And …Thanks for the invitation to join your party tomorrow! I'll be back for that!

Oh Katherine, your little girl is a real beauty! She looks picture perfect with her pretty dress, sandals and cute back pack for school. She has gorgeous hair, very much like my grand's, long and curly, in a honey color. Adorable!

Katherine, your daughter is a doll baby!!! That dessert of yours looks like a winner…kinda like a creme brûlée. Yummy!!!
Oops, sorry I misspelled your name!! My Mom's is your spelling, too!! Mine is Catherine, but I go by Kitty.

These coffee-pots are great!:) I have to try them.
Do you think I could replace the coffee with cocoa powder when I make these for kids?
And speaking of kids – your little girl is simply a doll!:)
Hi! Thanks for popping in at my place and leaving a comment. Always nice with new readers.
Since I live "Down Under" I have to say that I can't wait for summer to arrive. We have had a very wet and long winter and I'm ready for some sunshine.
Good luck to your beautiful daughter on her first day of school, it's such an important day.
Anette 🙂
Those look very good! Have to give it a try! I love "easy"!!
Your little one is adorable! My little one is 25 now and she was a Hello Kitty lover too! We still have the "pink" Hello Kitty tv!!
Hi, I came over somehow from My Romantic Home (lots of links!). I think it was your banana bread that caught my eye and now I love the petits pots. And your cherries wallpaper here on the site! Also, you have a really beautiful daughter; she looks like something out of a magazine, so beautifully-dressed and coiffed with a sweet smile. Aren't you smart to find a way to work from home and not miss your time with her as a later-in-life mom; it's the right thing to do (you'll never, ever regret it!). I'll visit here again; nice site.
Thank you, Vicki for the kind words! Hope you're having a beautiful day. Toodles, Kathryn
Those look like the perfect finish to a meal! Yummm! And your daughter is adorable! Hope she enjoys pre-school!

I have this bookmarked to make, but I don't drink coffee or like the taste. Could you suggest how to make it with another flavor? Thanks in advance for you help. Love your recipes and blog!
