Hello World! Welcome Friends! As you know, I’ve been working on many little projects and many big projects around the house. Nothing is going on in the yard except a whole lot of watering since we have had several days of triple digit heat! Blech! So, we stay inside as much as possible. To the dining room we go.
The blue and white color scheme all started with this. 
Spode – Blue Italian
For years I have been a subscriber to Victoria magazine and every time the Blue and White issue would come out I would read it cover to cover. Blue and white is just so classic. It creates a feeling of peace, comfort, and solidness for me. Blue and white is grounded, but it can also have a little romantic whimsy. So, I like stability with my romance!
When we moved to The Dedicated House, our poor dining room looked like this.

Then I got a bee in my bonnet and painted the lovely room after purchasing Spode’s Blue Italian. Here is the first paint job.
The chairs had been recovered and the walls painted. The table, chairs, and hutch belong to my mother. She has a cherry set that I gave her when I moved to California and it would not fit in my condo. Anyhoo, one day we will purchase a new set. But, this one is in great condition and loves Old English lemon oil. So, we keep it for now. Back to the paint. Loved the paint above the chair rail, but wasn’t diggin’ the paint below the chair rail. So, we make another change.
The lighter side is Stratford Blue by Benjamin Moore.
Isn’t this the coolest shape? My sister and her family gave this to me last Christmas. I’m thinking she got it at Home Goods but she won’t fess up to where she bought it.
What do you think? Much better? I know, I know, I need pictures on the walls. Don’t you fret none, Ellie Mae, I’ve got two that will need a little Dedicated Loving before I can hang them up. Got them from Goodwill. Also, will be fabric shopping soon to make my curtains. Yes, I’m a freak. I like to take on projects that I probably have no business taking on. But, you see, I have Betty Lou (aka mom) in my corner who can help with all things sewing related. Also, looking into wood floors or possibly a fake…gasp! This is not our final home, but we want to make it as pretty as possible while we are here for not a whole lot of money. That’s it for today.

I love the blue and white…it looks so fresh. I think the addition of wood floors (or fake) would look really nice. I great area rug would add a nice touch also!

The portion above the chair rail is a base color of Statford Blue by Benjamin Moore with a white glaze combed down from ceiling to chair rail. Done by yours truly. Glad you like it. Toodles, Kathryn
