Hello World! Welcome Friends! Do you want to improve the atmosphere of your home? Maybe you’d like your home to feel more spacious. If so, there are simple changes you can make to achieve this goal. Discover ten tricks for creating more space in your home.
Hang Mirrors in Your Rooms
Mirrors are versatile items of decor. They can be round or angular with a frame that’s ornate or plain. In addition, hanging a mirror on a wall can make a room look more spacious. One idea is to hang a mirror across from a window in your bedroom or living room. The mirror will reflect light giving the room a more airy, open atmosphere. Put a mirror in a room with a window and it immediately enhances the natural light flowing inside.
Evaluate Your Furniture Arrangements
Take a look at the furniture arrangements in your home. As you walk through the living room, do you find yourself zigging and zagging to get passed chairs, tables and even the sofa? If so, it’s likely you have too many items of furniture in the room. Remove any tables, chairs and ottomans that are not essential and take another stroll through the room. Ideally, you want a room to have the furniture you need as well as plenty of open space surrounding it. You’d be surprised how much space can open up by removing just one chair, floor lamp or end table. However, if you want to add furniture to your home and need extra space, you may want to learn more about the process of making an addition to your home.
Put Up White Window Curtains
Do you have dark curtains up over your windows? Dark curtains can make a room feel stuffy and cramped. Take your dark curtains down and put up some white curtains. These can be solid white or made of a filmy material so sunlight can filter through. A pair of white curtains will reflect the sunlight making the room feel more spacious. If you want to keep your dark curtains, then put the white curtains on the inner part of the curtain rod and the dark curtains on the outer edge of the curtain rod. That way, you can pull one or both pairs of curtains closed.
Use the Space Under Your Bed for Storage
A bedroom with clothing items draped over chairs, thrown on the floor or even stacked neatly in a corner can feel overcrowded. If you have open space under your bed, use it for clothing storage. There are rolling drawers and other types of containers that make under the bed storage an easy, organized process.
Take Advantage of Multi-Purpose Furniture Items
TV remote controls, books, magazines and extra candles sitting on tables in the family room can make space feel messy and overcrowded. One solution to making more space is a multi-purpose item of furniture such as an ottoman with a removable lid. Storing all of these types of items in the ottoman keeps them organized and out of sight. Plus, you can still rest your feet on the ottoman when watching TV, reading or relaxing.
A wicker trunk can act as a storage place for extra blankets and pillows in a bedroom while also serving as a decorative piece of furniture.
Paint Your Walls White
Do you have a room in your home that feels dark and hemmed in? If the walls of the room are painted in a dark color or have dark wallpaper on them, they are contributing to the uninviting atmosphere of the room. Change the atmosphere instantly by painting the walls white. White immediately makes a room look larger. Plus, if you have windows in the room, the white paint or wallpaper will reflect the natural light adding even more openness to space!
Opt for Wall Bookshelves
Vertical storage can be an excellent way to make any room feel more spacious. If you have a bedroom with traditional bookshelves that sit on the floor, think about replacing them with wall bookshelves. Depending on your book collection, you can put up three or four shelves or make shelves that run from floor to ceiling. This clears floor space you can leave open to contribute to the spacious atmosphere of the room.
Mount Your Television on the Wall
Today, there are many types of wall mounts available for televisions of all sizes. Some wall mounts allow you to turn your television in different directions to suit the needs of the people viewing it. Mounting your television on the wall is a space creating an alternative to putting your television on a large table that’ll accommodate its weight.
Display a Minimal Amount of Decorative Items
Look around the rooms of your home at what sorts of items you have on your shelves and tables. Is there anything you can remove to store or give away? Having too many pictures, knickknacks and other items on tables and shelves can give a cluttered look to any room. If you have a beloved collection of framed photos, try displaying them in a cabinet with glass doors so they’re not scattered throughout a room. So, you can keep the items you really like while displaying them in a neat, organized way.
Hang Items on Backs of Doors
The back of a door in a room is an ideal place for storage. Plus, when you put items there, it keeps them out of sight and clears more space. Put a couple of hooks on the back of the pantry door in your kitchen and you can hang up aprons, extra dishtowels or tablecloths so they will be out of sight. Or, hang up a set of hooks on the back of the bathroom door so you can have a place for your bathrobe, bath towel and pajamas.
Lastly, these are just ten of the many tricks for making your home feel more spacious. Sometimes making just a few simple changes can transform the atmosphere of an entire room!

Great ideas here, I love the tip about the focus on doors. They can make such a dramatic difference, yet I never would have thought of it, thanks.
